Matcha green tea for prevention/treatment of Covid transmission and infection

Japanese superfood that I consume the most – every single day, two to three cups a day which is… MATCHA green tea!

Last year, I shared with you how Matcha green tea can prevent Covid but now new researches on green tea have been released again this year.

The researchers say :

Taken together, our data, as well as the findings just reported by others, indicate the possibility that consumption of green tea or its active ingredient EGCG is beneficial for preventing or reducing SARS-CoV-2 transmission and infection…Given its low toxicity, antiinflammation, antioxidant, and anti-SARS-CoV-2 variant properties, the use of GTB or EGCG is likely to minimize the SARS-CoV-2 spread, ameliorate symptoms and disease severity.

Even though the researches are done on green tea but  the key for prevention and treatment of Covid transmission and infection is the green tea catechin called EGCG and Matcha contains more EGCG than regular green tea!

The key for prevention and treatment of Covid transmission and infection  is the green tea catechin EGCG

MATCHA IS MUCH BETTER because of its higher EGCG contents

The key for Covid prevention and treatment is EGCG. EGCG, which stands for epigallocatechin gallate, is a polyphenol (which is a catechin, a type of flavonoid) with potent health-protective effects against the many diseases

Do you know that Matcha contains much more EGCG compare to green tea? That’s because matcha is made when the matcha powder dissolves in water, so you’re consuming the entire leaf and all its nutrients. Another thing is that Matcha tea leaves are grown differently from regular green tea. Matcha tea leaves undergo a shading process 3-4 weeks before harvesting, where they are covered from direct sunlight. This process increases the number of antioxidants

Matcha contains up to 137 times the amount of EGCG compared with certain brands of regular green tea

Matcha contains at least 3 times the amount of EGCG as popular varieties of green tea (and up to 137 times the amount of EGCG compared with certain brands of green tea)  Why so huge a difference? 3 times and 137 times are a huge gap! Because there are super poor quality matcha and green tea available while super high-quality matcha and green tea are available.

I must tell you, Price does matter. If you buy cheap, it contains less EGCG and doesn’t taste good either.  Buying matcha can be a gamble. Even the price is high, matcha can be already oxidised if they are stored badly – matcha is very sensitive to many elements.  So you won’t know until you actually “ see” the colour and taste. ( if you can see the colour from the packet, you should not buy since matcha is very sensitive to light ) but there are things you should be looking for.

Good matcha is  ;

  • Product of Japan
  • Ceremonial grade
  • Organic
  • First flush
  • Stoneground

I used to use so so quality matcha for my cooking classes and even my cookbook photo shooting before. It was a ceremonial grade and product of Japan .. but the taste wasn’t that fabulous and the colour wasn’t so bright. ( I am still embarrassed by some matcha photo in my Japanese superfoods cookbook..I did photo shooting first before I did serious research on Matcha ) After I did serious research, I decided to use only high-quality organic matcha because I discovered good quality matcha can benefit so many things. Then I realised that they are a much tastier and brighter beautiful colour. Once I have this, I can’t go back to so so Japanese matcha…

Go for the organic, ceremonial grade, Japanese matcha for higher EGCG

Please remember, matcha is not only good for Covid but also for your health and beauty!

Let’s have matcha for protecting yourself and your loved one as well as getting health and beauty benefits!
