I discovered that there is a lovely vegan menu at a café in Balmoral beach – my neighbourhood beach, that I go to regularly from a Japanese magazine. I have just been having takeaway coffee there because I normally don’t expect to have a nice vegan menu at regular cafes.
Café with a beautiful sea view and a vegan menu. What a winner!
I decided to bring my Japanese assistant who is also vegan and needed some sunshine ( her health check says she is lacking Vitamin D) and some earthing on the beach.
For entrée, we ordered cauliflower popcorn. I must say this dish is our least favourite dish. I love sour taste and pomegranate but I am not a big fan of the combination of cauliflower popcorn.
PASTURE CAULIFLOWER POPCORN $18 with pomegranate molasses, mixed spices & paprika aioli (VG)
For main, we ordered gnocchi and a burger. Whenever I find vegan gnocchi on the menu, I tend to order because it takes time to cook and I won’t make it at home …! So it is always a great opportunity to order at a restaurant that offers HOME MADE gnocchi. ( I really hate store-bought gnocchi ).
SUMMER GNOCCHI $34 with basil pesto, vegan cheese and tomato
The main burger was really nice. I am not a burger person, but the vegan burger here was the best dish of the day!
The vegan pattie was so nice ( I wonder which vegan pattie they use… ), as well as the bun and combination of onion, cheese, and lettuce were delicious!
PASTURE’S WAGYU BURGER $27 … I opted for the vegan version – using vegan pattie and cheese.
(200 gm Wagyu beef burger with Dijon mustard, caramelised red onion, Swiss cheese, aioli, Cos lettuce, pickles on rustic Ciabatta and served with fries)
There are even more vegan options! (yes, more! ) and not only gnocchi is handmade but also pasta!
It is a bit pricy, but I highly recommend this place for those who love quality food – both a taste, ingredients and health-conscious person! ( there are vegan quinoa bowls, salads, etc. which I didn’t order )
Our beautiful office in the afternoon
Nice Soy Latte and Soy Chai with a sea view!
After the meal, instead of having coffee here, we moved to another café on the sea for afternoon work.
It is always nice to work with a beautiful sea view!
