Brown Seaweeds are BEST source of iodine!!!

Saviour for high energy, weight loss, shiny hair and skin!!!!

Iodine is helpful for ;

  • Helps burn excess fat — good for weight loss!
  • Gives you energy
  • Good for hair, nails, skin and teeth
  • Maintain thyroid health

Since Australian soil is especially low in iodine, many Australians are not having enough iodine ( that is why you can find iodised salt in supermarkets in Australia, which I really don’t recommend…)

Do you know what’s the best source of Iodine?

BROWN SEAWEEDS !

Brown seaweeds are BEST source of iodine.

Wakame, hijiki ( not available in Australia), arame, mozuku ( Okinawan, the longest longevity on earth eat a lot! ) and konbu are all brown seaweeds.
but KONBU contains much much ..I mean MUCH MUCH higher amounts of iodine.

Konbu ( kelp)  – the king of Iodine!
In Japan, konbu is used to make ” dashi ” the stock.
Australia stopped importing kelp for a while but now it is available!

Seafood is also a good source but seaweed especially konbu play a different game.

Let’s check out iodine amount per 100g of food

  •  dried kelp ( konbu)  230000 mcg
  •  dried wakame 8500 mcg
  •  konbu stock 5400 mcg
  •  reconstituted wakame 1900 mcg
  •  raw abalone 180 mcg
  •  cooked eel 77 mcg
  •  raw oyster 73 mcg
  •  tinned anchovies 62 mcg
  • raw egg yolk 50 mcg

See?
230000 mcg  the average and some of konbu contain over 400000 mcg  per 100g… mad isn’t it?

You might say, seaweeds are dried product, but please check ” reconstituted wakame”  still much higher than seafood, right?

and konbu is not just an amazing iodine source but also contain beautiful ” umami flavour” – natural MSG!

that is why we use kelp for making stock.

PLUS…
kelp is rich in these as well…

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin B1
  • Fibre — about 37%(dried weight)
  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Potassium

Making good konbu dashi can be annoying because you should not boil …

need to take out just before boiling so I will use ” fail free method”

FAIL FREE METHOD – just soak overnight!

Here is a tip for you, if you want to make it taste more nice… add the shiitake with it!!!:)

Why don’t you try this perfect ingredient for high energy, weight loss, shiny hair and skin!!!!!!!!
