Mumbo Jumbos restaurant in Terrigal is not a vegan restaurant but offers many interesting Caribbean-influenced vegan dishes!
The entrance is small but once you go upstairs, a cool bar and restaurant appear!
It took a while to choose vegan dishes since there are quite a few vegan dishes – what a lovely problem I had!
As an eggplant-loving person, I picked crumbed eggplant. Even though not a big fan of eggplant hubby enjoyed it – which is a big deal.
If I have to pick my most favourite dish of the day, this is the one!
Crumbed Eggplant with wild rice salsa, tomato relish, lime and yoghurt – $20
My burger-loving hubby, of course, picked the crumbed mushroom – he hates fake meat, so he was happy to be able to pick the burger using real food.
And it was really really good. The mushroom was so meaty, and interesting fillings made the burger so flavourful. My hubby voted this to be his best dish of the day!
Crumbed Mushroom Burger – $25 – with baba ghanoush, feta, tomato, onion, lettuce and tomato with Mumbos burger sauce
We asked to set aside the feta because they don’t use vegan feta.
I really wanted to give a vegan taco a try because the filling is so interesting – pomegranate?!
Must be a Caribbean thing…
Jerk Cauliflower, sweet potato, roast onion and chickpea. – Soft tortillas, pomegranate, mango relish, pineapple salsa, herb slaw and mild jalapeno yoghurt – $25
Well well, I am not a fan of fruits in savoury food, like pizza with pineapple, Chinese dishes with pineapple… so here is a similar situation.
But because the main part of this dish is mango, pineapple and pomegranate salsa, and it is a very light dish, so I ate it as a dessert. And it was a nice and light dish so it was worth a try!
Caribbean Leaf Salad – $20 – with seeded mustard dressing, avocado, walnuts and feta. The feta cheese for this is not a vegan version, so I set it aside for my hubby to enjoy
This is my least favourite dish, maybe it is a Caribbean salad but to me, nothing special. But the leaves were a very generous amount, but I wish I ordered crispy fried cauliflower wings, damn!! But I ended up eating most of the salad ( my hubby didn’t eat much..) so I became healthier for sure which is a big plus, right?
So fabulous to be able to eat with such an amazing view!
This place has an amazing view with interesting flavourful vegan dishes. Also, it is great to eat with non-vegan people too! I highly recommend giving this place a try!
