Today I went to Otto Noorba, a restaurant in Glebe that serves Mediterranean, Italian, Greek and Turkish foods. I had to pick a restaurant for a group of three people- myself, a vegan and finally a non-vegan who loves Italian foods.
I tend to encourage people that I am eating with to dine at plant-based restaurants and I usually don’t get many complaints, but I wanted to pick a place that everyone could enjoy and I am so glad I found the perfect place!
Otto Noorba is vegan friendly and they also serve “healthy natural organic” meals, which fulfils my diet requirements perfectly. I am so happy we had a wonderful dining experience there.
For starters, we ordered Homemade Pickles. I cook a lot at home so I tend to order foods that take a long time or a hard time to make at home and pickles is one of them!
Homemade Pickles- $6
We also ordered Salsa (Esme) and from the description, I was imagining an Italian style fresh tomato salsa with Middle Eastern spice (sumac), but it was totally different! I am always happy to try foods that I have never tried before. The salsa also came with fresh bread. This lovely spicy salsa which is like a dip was great with other dishes as it added a spicy kick!
Salsa (Ezme)- $12
(Tomato, pepper, sumac)
We wanted to order Cheese and Spinach Cigars and ask if they could use vegan cheese for us, although it wasn’t possible we could make our pide vegan, which was just AMAZING!
I can still remember how yummy and fresh the Vegetarian Supreme Pide was (I asked them to make it vegan for us), it was the best pide I have ever tried, which is saying a lot because I have been to Turkey! I am so glad that I could have the pide as they were able to make it vegan for us.
Vegetarian Supreme Pide- $19
We also ordered another side which was sweet potato chips, nothing fancy but we just love good deep-fried foods!
Sweet Potato Chips- $10
For mains, we ordered the falafel plate which was so colourful and loved everything on the plate especially fermented red cabbage and tabouli.
Falafel Plate- $23
(Tabouli, green tahini, hummus, fermented red cabbage, pickles)
We also ordered the Stuffed Eggplant which was served with rice (pilaf) and I really enjoyed the rice! This dish normally comes with yogurt but we received hummus instead. We also received hummus for the pide and falafel instead of yoghurt so we ended up with 3 bowls of hummus in total.
Stuffed Eggplant- $22
(Onion, green chilli, tomato, garlic, rice, beetroot, hummus)
I thought my non-vegan friend would order some seafood or meat dish but he didn’t so we ended up ordering only plant-based dishes for the night that we all enjoyed!
Everything was great but my favourite was definitely the pide! If you love eating fresh and healthy foods, I highly recommend giving this place a try!
