'Isobe-age' is a type of tempura made with the batter with Aonori, the seaweed! I had lots of mushrooms so I decided to make Mushroom isobe age!🍄

✔︎Other dishes included are:
- Cucumber, wakame (yep, more seaweed!) and peeled tomato sunomono
- Kinpira gobo
- Home made tsukemono – miso marinaded choko and daikon in umeboshi vinegar
- Brown rice with black sesame
- Zucchini and Koya dofu (freeze dried tofu) miso soup

This meal is filled with dietary fiber and fermented foods – amazing for our gut health (= happy mind & stronger immune system).😋😋

It does take a while to prepare a full Japanese meal but it does make me happy and healthier! I love investing my time for my health and happiness!🌱💚

Dango-skewered dumplings are a very popular Wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets). Of all the many types of dango, Mitarashi dango features a sweet, soy-based glaze on top of lightly grilled dango. The best part is that this delicious treat is vegan and gluten-free, so everyone can enjoy! 💖

🖤 Black sesame tofu 🖤 In Japan, sesam 🖤 Black sesame tofu 🖤

In Japan, sesame tofu is usually a tofu-like dish made with ground sesame paste and kuzu (kudzu) flour, not using soybeans like regular tofu. Some dishes in Japan looks and has a tofu-like texture, but are not tofu in the traditional sense, which can be quite confusing for some people.😆

This black sesame tofu is regular soybean tofu, but with black sesame added! Its a bit of an unusual tofu and definitely something you can’t find in Sydney. It has a very silky and smooth texture, and has a soybean and sesame flavour!😍😍 I had it with wasabi and soy sauce. Sooo yumm!😋

We got this from a tofu truck that comes every Tuesday from a traditional tofu shop in Osaka.

In my parents' area, there are no traditional tofu shops that sell freshly made tofu everyday. We can get various types of tofu at the supermarkets and department stores, but I miss traditional tofu shops so this truck was just amazing!🤩
❣️Ready to detoxify your body to get rid of th ❣️Ready to detoxify your body to get rid of the toxins you've been carrying from the not-so-healthy festive food? I am!🖐️

One of my go-to Japanese superfood for this is Konnyaku, since it's great for detox and weight loss! But eating Konnyaku on a daily basis is hard even for me - Not to mention my hubby or my dad .. basically men who need to incorporate a much healthier diet than me!

So here's my trick to eating Konnyaku – This is great because my hubby or dad won't notice anything. They're just happy to eat white steamed rice not brown rice🤣😂

As you can see, I'm using minced white konnyaku that I got in Konnyaku Park in Gunma, Japan (which is hard to get even in Japan), so you can use Konnyaku Sheet or Shirataki. I also added some nigari, to add some natural magnesium into it (you can omit it as it can be hard to get them)😁

I did this trick when I was in Japan last Oct/Nov everyday for my parents, and recently started for my hubby and I! Hope you'll give it a go since it is super easy and tastes exactly like regular white rice!🍚💕

💟 Konnyaku fried rice and soup with Japanese go 💟 Konnyaku fried rice and soup with Japanese goodness 💟

Another Japanese vegan meal that I cooked for my family when I was in Japan - I cooked too much simmered konnyaku and got bored so I decided to add it to some fried rice.😝

I put finely chopped simmered konnyaku, shiso leaves and ground sesame in the fried rice - Yep, its a Japanese fusion fried rice, rich in both dietary fiber and calcium!🤩 The soup is filled with Japanese goodness – Yuba (Tofu skin )that I bought in Kyoto and Hiratake mushroom – both of which are difficult to get in Sydney!

Salad doesn’t look too special but it contains ash-dried wakame - Something you can't easily get your hands on even in Japan!🥹
