I looove croissants so much but the problem is dairy! but vegan croissants are the answer!
Great news is that Smith and Deli in Fiztroy – an amazing vegan town in Melbourne, sells vegan croissant. What a heavenly place!
They not only sell croissant but also various yummy vegan baking goodness like sandwiches, donuts, cakes and cookies.
Many choices of vegan sandwiches – they toast once we place an order
They also sells vegan cheese and meat items!
Sells various vegan meat items – honey chicken, souvlaki, schnitzel and more
The only thing, we can’t dine there (damn!)
The Smith and Deli was 15mis walk from our hotel – Park Hyatt.
I was so determined to walk to get vegan goodies in the morning, surprisingly (?) my hubby agreed to come with me.
Once we arrived, there was a line, of at least 5 people waiting. My hubby hates queuing but he seems to be happy sipping his soy latte.
Ham and cheese croissant was my favourite naughty treat before so it didn’t take much time what to pick
My brekkie of joy Croissantwich ($12) with matcha
Croissantwich is a vegan croissant sandwich with ham, cheese, mustard, bacon and egg. Taste? Sooo yummy. All I was thinking… I wish I could get this yumminess near our place
My hubby’s brekkie : Maury ballstein $15 (bottom right)
My hubby choose the toasted sandwich, Maury ballstein which was filled with vegan meatballs, basil best, rocket and mozzarella.
My croissantwich was in a heat box? So it is ready to take home but we had to wait the staff to toast his sandwich so I was a bit impatient to wait his sandwitch because I love hot food when it is hot. That is why I hardly ever take away food. I always want to eat on the spot.
Anyway, his sandwich is worth a wait. It was very yummy and my picky hubby was very happy with his pick.
All the food we got, my Hubby’s sandwich is bottom left
Don’t worry, we didn’t eat everything as a breakfast (well, we could but trying to avoid overeating).
I bought extra donut and croissant for our afternoon tea in Sydney.
Another joy we had in Sydney
I have been to Smith and Daughters (the original café, restaurant) for breakfast before but now they only open for lunch and dinner I guess they don’t want to be competitor of own brunch.
But I still wish they open for breakfast and offered smith deli’s items or able to dine at Smith deli (I really love to eat meal right after they are prepared.. ) anyway, I should be thankful to be able to eat such a yummy vegan croissant.
They don’t open on Sundays so make sure to go when the shop is open!
