Instant Wakame Soup

Instant wakame soup 

Great for a snack or even as a side dish to boost your fibre or alkalinity intake.

Having seaweeds regularly is great for your health since seaweeds are so nutritious with almost no calories and it is also a very alkalising food (great for overall health). 

Plus brown seaweeds like Wakame contain both soluble fibre and insoluble fibre – meaning great for our gut health. Soluble fibre dissolves into our gut and absorbs toxins, insoluble fibre is great for bowel movement.

Recipe

Ingredients 

Serves 1 

  • 300ml (10.5fl ozhot water
  • 1/2 tsp vegetable stock powder
  • 1/2 tsp cut wakame
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Dash of soy sauce

Option to add:

  • Chopped shallots
  • Ground roasted sesame
  • Roasted sesame oil 

Method 

  1. Boil water then adds a vegetable stock, wakame, soy sauce and season to taste.
  2. Add any optional ingredients. 

Dried wakame, alkalising brown seaweed great for gut health.


WANT TO HEALTHIER SOUP COOK RATHER THAN INSTANT VERSION?

Yes, instant version is so great to save your time and so easy to add your meal, however if you want to go even healthier you can make the not instant version.
If you can heat this soup in the pot, it will be better… because cooking the stock powder (bring to the boil and simmer two minutes) enhances the flavour that means you can reduce the amount of salt and stock powder but still have great taste.
One thing you want to be mindful of, is if you cook wakame too long (even 5 mins), the texture of the seaweed might get more slimy (easier to digest though) and soup has more full on wakame flavour, which some people might not enjoy.
TIPS for cooking version 
  1. Cook stock powder in boiling water for at least 2 minutes to enhance the flavour
  2. Add wakame after simmering the stock for 2 mins to avoid overcooking
