Freshie Mex is located in the Freshwater village, very close to the beach and offers dine in experiences or even take away. All their produce is locally sourced, making it all super fresh and nutritious!
Although this Mexican restaurant is not a vegan restaurant it has a great vegan menu, which is why I wanted to give it a go.
I love Mexican places that offer vegan sour cream as a substitute rather than omitting the sour cream altogether. The great news is that vegan sour cream is made from cashew nuts, which is amazing because some vegan dairy products can be made from nasties.
To start, we ordered Nachos.
Nachos de Queso Vegano – $14.90
Corn chips, vegan melted cheese, guacamole, cashew sour cream, tomato salsa and jalapenos.
Then we ordered vegan burritos, one with capsicum and onions and another with jackfruit.
Jackfruit burrito – $19.90
Capsicum and onion burrito – $16.90
Soft flour tortilla with Mexican rice, beans, vegan cheese, guacamole and pico de gallo
Next, I had mushroom tacos.
It was a bit smaller than I expected. Inside it had fried crispy mushrooms, shredded cabbage, pico de gallo and cashew sour cream.
I regretted my choice a little bit because it was another one focuses on the cashew sour cream. I should have instead ordered a jackfruit taco for the different flavour. – Damn.

Crispy fried mushrooms, pico de gallo, shredded cabbage and cashew sour cream.
I didn’t think the portions of the servings were that big, especially the tacos, but in the end we weren’t able to finish so we had to take some home. Which means it a good thing, since we can eat a lot!
I guess the good fat from the cashew sour cream and avocado helped as well.
