We had a lovely plant based dinner at Greenhouse Canteen! I knew this place was a vegan restaurant but what I didn’t know it was also gluten-free! What an amazing surprise!
Fully Vegan and gluten free restaurant!
I want to avoid gluten as much as possible because gluten causes inflammation and is also bad for our gut health but I wanted to try the pasta, then found out the pasta was gluten-free and made from chickpea flour! How fabulous!
We arrived 5 minutes before- yep, the first customer of the day
The menu was so interesting so it was hard for me to choose, but for entrée we ordered “Arancini balls” which had mushroom and sage brown rice arancini with cashew parmesan! Not only were these balls made from brown rice ( healthier!!! ) but tasted.. just amazing. Full of mushroom umami flavour. Crunchy balls themselves are already so flavourful but they come with rich and yummy cashew cheese… just an amazing dish!
Arancini Balls , My most favourite dish of the day!
For another entree, we got “Pumpkin Alfredo Gnocchi”! I quite often order gnocchi because it is time consuming to make at home! The dish had pumpkin alfredo sauce, gnocchi, rice paper bakon, truffle mushroom and chives.
I am not a big fan of pumpkin so I was a bit worried about that but luckily, there was no strong pumpkin flavour in this sauce, it was more like a cheesy and garlicky flavour which we really enjoyed! The portion was big enough for main so be careful not to order too much which we did.
Pumpkin Alfredo Gnocchi
Can be my most favourite dish but i think Aranchini was the best dish of the day. Still amazing!
For main, we ordered the “Chickpea Fettuccine”, which was fettuccine that was tossed in a mild chilli vodka napoli served with some sunflower mince and piquant cheese
I was already delighted to hear that the fettuccine was gluten free and made from chickpea (rich in protein!) but also it was organic. How fabulous is that. The sauce needed something else since I found it a bit plain, but the deep fried kale made the pasta interesting – nice fatty and crunchy addition, and we all know fat always makes the dish yummy!
Chickpea Fettuccine
For another main, we ordered the “Sweet N Sour Tofu Larb”. Isn’t this dish so cute?! The dish had rice noodle pancake that was served with chilli jam tofu scramble, cos lettuce, fresh herbs and sriracha aioli!
You might be wondering what Larb is, Larb is a Laos meat salad and is typically found on Thai restaurant menus.
The tofu scramble was full of strong flavours so I felt like we needed extra lettuce! Amazing dish that has full of flavour and texture.
Sweet N Sour Tofu Larb
We were absolutely stuffed after having two entrées and mains. I think it is because all dishes are filled with whole foods including healthy fat rich nuts – totally opposite of empty calories! Filled with all nutrients! No space for dessert and we were still full next morning…
I really love this place because the menu is super interesting ( so hard to choose which one to order though ), tasty, totally gluten free and not using any fake meat or fish
If you are vegan or vegetarian and health conscious, this place is a heavenly place!
