There are five Pilgrim, vegetarian cafés in NSW and there are three on the South Coast.
When we were on the South Coast, we visited Pilgrims, vegetarian café twice!
Lunch at Huskisson and Mexican dinner at Milton.
I was determined to try vegan pie with salad at Huskisson but it was already sold out … because we went to nearly 2pm but I believe that is a good sign, They make only limited items so all the food is fresh.
You can find Pilgrims by the sea – amazing location
I know my hubby is ordering the burger so I ordered vegan toastie with sourdough.
Vegan toastie : Avocado, tomato, onion, vegan cheese & cracked pepper on sourdough $10
Lovely flavourful toastie with melting cheese. Who doesn’t enjoy toastie with cheese?
My hubby ordered vegan bliss burger.
Curry lentil pattie – fried onion, avocado, vegan cheese, tabouli, sprouts & peanut sauce on a wholemeal roll $15
Very fresh and full of flavour. Especially since I love tabouli so I really enjoyed this combo. My hubby is not a big fan of fake meat so it is great that they have lentil pattie!
Pilgrim Vegetarian cafe at Milton
Lunch time is packed whenever we passed the pilgrim in Milton so I gave up to have vegan pie at Milton and decided to have dinner there with a booking.
In Milton, they open for Mexican dinner on Friday and Saturday (3 out of 5 pilgrim café open for dinner).
We ordered nachos (ditched the cheese and sour cream to be vegan).
Corn chips with cheese grilled to perfection, spicy red beans, guacamole, sour cream and salsa $19
Burrito (ditched the fetta, cheese and sour cream to be vegan) – toasted soft tortilla wrap filled with spicy red beans, refried spiced potato, guacamole & salsa $16
BURRITO BOWL $ 22 (ditched the sour cream and cheese to vegan)
Take the basis of the garden salad (locally grown green salad with tomato and Spanish onion) in a bowl then add burrito ingredients.
You need to check the menu very carefully.
For some reason, there is no option to add vegan cheese in Milton even though they use vegan cheese for lunch time where another Pilgrim like Cronulla does offer vegan cheese as an extra for Mexican night.
Without cheese and sour cream and bean itself was quite blunt, the all dishes we ordered was not so fabulous to be very honest.
So if you wanna go for Mexican night, I highly recommend to choose to go to a Pilgrim that offer vegan cheese option or just stick to lunch menu which we enjoyed.
Even though Mexican dinner wasn’t so satisfying I am so grateful to see plant based cafes are increasing not only Sydney but also outside of Sydney!
